One of the most important aspects of moving to a new home, no matter if you are moving locally, out of state, or internationally, is updating your address with a whole host of different places. To help you get started with this very important task, we have created a basic checklist that you can use as a guide for your upcoming move.
We Want to Help You Create Your Own Change of Address Checklist.

- Employer – This probably goes without saying, but in the craziness of a move we can all use an extra reminder. Contacting your company’s Human Resources Department to update them on your upcoming move is another important step you don’t want to forget!
- Financial Institutions – Bank accounts, retirement accounts, and investments, oh my! Don’t neglect contacting these various institutions of an address change.
- Insurance Companies –Many insurance policies allow you to update your information, including your address, online ensuring you receive important documents, such as statements and updates to your policy, in a timely manner.
- MVA / Voter Registration – The Maryland Vehicle Administration lists out the steps for how to change your address on your driver’s license here. To update your voter registration with your new address follow the instructions provided by the Maryland Board of Elections.
