Whether you plan to drive or to fly, traveling during the holidays can add unwanted stress to this wonderful time of year. 1.  Pack Light – It is easy to forget that when traveling for the holidays you will be bringing back more items than you brought with you. Be mindful about the items you are packing to ensure you have enough room in your luggage or the trunk of your car to bring back all your loot!
  2. Make a Plan – Keep in mind that there will be many people on the road and in the air traveling at the same time as you. Plan extra time for your trip to account for long security lines at the airport or heavy traffic on major highways. Taking the time to plan ahead can help reduce the stress of not making it to your destination on time while also helping you enjoy the trip.
  3. Pack Snacks – No one wants to deal with a hangry passenger. Avoid paying the inflated airport or gas station prices for snacks by bringing along some of your family’s favorite snack items. If flying, be sure to check the TSA regulations for food items beforehand to ensure your snacks won’t be confiscated.
  4. Stay Hydrated – Along the same lines, keep your family hydrated throughout the duration of your trip. Bring along reusable water bottles to fill up at water fountains along the way. This goes for flying as well; pack an empty reusable water bottle in your carry-on bag to fill up once you get past security.
  5. Plan Special Entertainment for Kids – To avoid the cries of “I’m bored” purchase a few special travel items to help entertain your kids on the flight or drive. This could be downloading a new movie to watch, a special coloring book, stickers, or whatever else you can think of that will keep your child entertained.

Implementing these travel tips will help reduce stress and allow you and your family to enjoy each moment of this holiday season.
